Family Prayer Journal - Monday's Protection for Our Husbands

Let's start this day out with a bit of humor...

Today we get to talk about praying for our men. Now WAIT!!! Before you get started on your itemized, alphabetized list for God to work on, we are praying for something specific.

Today we are praying for protection. This is how my prayer entry looks today:

  • Rod
    • For his protection
      • To and from work (physical protection)
      • From temptations (in his mind and in the world)
      • At work - guide him in his job/make Godly decisions
Okay, let's break this down.

Our husbands need all kinds of protection. Just walking down the steps in the morning can cause problems. Every step they take can be an accident waiting to happen. During winter I deal with fear of Rod slipping while he is getting firewood from out back. I catch myself praying for God to protect him from slipping. Driving, flying, walking, running, we need to pray for our husbands physical protection.

Protection from temptations. There are many. Yes, there is Victoria's Secret. There are commercials on TV, the internet, their tablets or phones. For some men those may be difficult temptations. My concern is for those women who wash the laundry, fold it, and put it away in the same day. Don't let Rod see them Lord! Sadly, this isn't a laughing matter. The temptations that are out there today are destroying our families, our values, and our country.

Protection at work. Rod deals with millions of dollars everyday. Yep. Millions. Imagine the staggering responsibility. I don't do well with $20 in my wallet. He has to file taxes in almost all 50 states and other countries. It is important that I pray for his success at work and for him to make Godly decisions.

There are probably other areas our husbands need protection. What are some area's that your husband needs protection?

Father, thank you for Rod. You have blessed me with a man who takes his obligations seriously. He works hard to provide for his family and I am so thankful for all of his hard work. Please protect him everyday as he travels away from his family and as he comes back to us. Protect him while he is exercising; his blood pressure and from ticks that carry Lyme disease. Protect him from struggles that he may have in his mind that might be causing him to stumble. And please protect him at all of his jobs. Help him to make good financial decisions and good calls on the soccer field. For this man I am continuously thankful.

Father, I pray all of this for the husbands of my friends as well. Please protect them. Please give my friends wisdom as they pray for the protection of their husbands too. May they find great joy in lifting their husbands up to You. Not because their husbands may drive them crazy, but because they see the precious gems that their husbands are, flaws and all. Amen!!
